Our Story

Mich and Stefani Bignell are a mother/daughter TEAm of tea enthusiasts. Mich is the "M" and Stefani is the "S" and together these Bignell ladies make up MS. B's.

Mich has always loved tea, whether it is the beverage, the tiny works of art on the tea cups, or the tradition of afternoon tea parties. She would have tea parties for friends and family for a time to relax and enjoy one another's company. Stefani inherited a love of tea and desired to share it with others as well. The Bignell ladies got together and developed the concept for opening a family-run tea room…someday.

The COVID pandemic helped Mich and her husband, Doug, AKA Mr. B, to reconsider priorities in life like family and community. Being residents of Clayton and seeing how much amazing potential their small town has, they knew they wanted to be part in helping to revitalize the community. Being closer to retirement than not, they started thinking about what to do to prepare for this time of their lives. Mich started exploring her lifelong dream of owning a tea room where she could hold tea parties…someday…more earnestly.
 

However, in 2021, there were no retail or commercial spaces available in Clayton. So, Ms. B’s remained a concept until they found a space would be opening up after renovations were complete. Doors kept opening, so Mich & Stefani kept planning. Having acquired a large tea cup collection and even larger tea cabinet at home, Doug kept asking what Mich's plan for all these things were and she showed him...taking their concept, she & Stefani opened Ms. B’s Tea Room & Bistro in October 2022.

After seeing how much fun the ladies were having, Doug retired from a 30-year full-time paramedic career to join us at the tea room. He has now become a tea (& coffee) enthusiast himself and loves to use his talent for baking to bring you fresh scones and desserts daily.

Since our opening, we have grown and brought several jobs to Clayton. We are proud to have an incredible TEAm that help us in making the tea room experience possible. We are grateful that they share their talents (& love of tea, coffee, food, and baking) with us and you!

Our desire to help others enjoy tea at any time and for every age is what inspired us to create the Ms. B's concept.

 

We are tea enthusiasts, not tea sticklers, so we want you to enjoy tea (& coffee) your way. We are also not tea experts and know we have so much more to learn about tea. We are happy to share our love of tea with you and hope you will share your love of tea with us too.
